Thinking about something changes nothing, praying about something changes everything!
Prayer is the most powerful against trials, the most effective medicine against sickness and the most valuable gift to someone we care for!
One song can change a moment, one idea can change a world, one step can start a journey, but a PRAYER can change even the impossible.
A collection of good thoughts and humour received through emails. Just thought of collecting it as part of my blog and people can read it!!

A story of appreciation
One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.
He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.
The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.
The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "none".
The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.
The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes
before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.
The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning."
The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.
The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.
This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.
After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.
That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.
The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: " Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"
The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'
The Director asked, " please tell me your feelings."
The youth said,
Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today.
Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.
Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.
The director said, " This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.
Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.
A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*
You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.
You would have forwarded many mails to many and many of them would have black mailed you too...but try and forward this story to as many as possible...this may change somebody's fate... :)

Life can begin at Sixty, it is all in your hands !
Many people feel unhappy, health-wise and security-wise, after 60 years of age owing to the diminishing importance given to them and their opinion. But it need not be so, if only we understand the basic principles of life and follow them scrupulously. Here are ten mantras to age gracefully and make life after retirement pleasant.
1. Never say "I am aged". There are three ages, chronological, biological and psychological. The first is calculated based on our date of birth; the second is determined by the health conditions and the third is how old you feel you are. While we do not have control over the first, we can take care of our health and with good diet, exercise and a cheerful attitude. A positive attitude and optimistic thinking can reverse the third age.
2. Health is Wealth: If you really love your kith and kin, taking care of your health should be your priority. Thus, you will not be a burden to them. Have an annual health check up and take the prescribed medicines regularly. Do take health insurance cover.
3. Money is important: Money is essential for meeting the basic necessities of life, keeping good health and earning family respect and security. Do not spent beyond your means even for your children. You have lived for them all through and it is time you enjoyed a harmonious life with your spouse. If your children are grateful and they take care of you, you are blessed. But never take it for granted.
4. Relaxation and recreation: The most relaxing and recreating forces are a healthy religious attitude, good sleep, music and laughter. Have faith in God, learn to sleep well, love good music and see the funny side of life.
5. Time is precious: it is almost like holding a horse's reins. When they are in your hands., you can control them. Imagine that everyday you are born again. Yesterday is a canceled cheque. Tomorrow is a promissory note. Today is ready cash o- use it profitably. Live this moment.
6. Change is the only permanent thing: We should accept change - it is inevitable. The only way to make sense out of change is to join the dance. change has brought about many pleasant things. We should be happy that our children are blessed.
7. Enlightened Selfishness : All of us are basically selfish. Whatever we do, we expect something in return. We should definitely be grateful to those who stood by us. But our focus should be on the internal satisfaction and happiness we derive by doing well to others, without expecting anything in return.
8. Forget and Forgive : Do not be bothered too much about others' mistakes. We are not spiritual enough to show our other cheek when we are slapped in one. But for the sake of our own health and happiness, let us forgive and forget them. Otherwise, we will be only increasing our BP ( Blood Pressure ).
9. Everything has a purpose: Take life as it comes. Accept yourself as you are and also accept others for what they are. Everybody is unique and right in his own way.
10.Overcome the fear of death. We all know that one day we have to leave this world. Still we are afraid of death. We think that our spouse and children will be unable to withstand our loss. But the truth is no one is doing to die for you. they may be depressed for some time. Time heals everything and they will carry on!

Necessities vs. Luxuries
Sharing this email I received some days back:
Yesterday, I was driving, and the FM radio went off for few seconds.
I thought I should have an iPod. Then suddenly I realized that I have not used my iPod in last 6 months.
And then & more things, Handy cam in last 2 years, Digital Camera in last 2 months, DVD player in last 1 month and many more.
Now I can say that I bought that Handy cam just out of impulse, I have used it twice only in last 4 years.
So, what's wrong and where?
When I look at myself or my friends I can see it everywhere.
We are not happy with what we have but all are stressed and not happy for the things we don’t have.
You have a Santro, but you want City & you have a City, but you want Skoda.
Just after buying a new phone, we need another one.
Better laptop, bigger TV, faster car, bigger house, more money to buy it all.
I mean, these examples are endless.
The point is what is it actually worth?
Do we ever think if we actually need those things before we want?
After this, I was forced to think what I need and what I don't.
May be I didn’t need this Handy cam or the iPod or that DVD player.
When I remember my father back at home, he had a simple BPL color TV; he did not need a 42" Sony LED wall mount.
He had a cell phone worth Rs 2,500. Whenever I asked him to change the phone, he always said "It's a phone; I need this just for calls".
And believe me; he was much happier in life than me with those limited resources and simple gadgets.
The very basic reason why he was happy with so little is that he did not want things in life to make it luxurious, but he wanted only those things which were making his life easier.
It's a very fine line between these two, but after looking at my father's life style closely, I got the point.
He needed a cell phone but not the iPhone. He needed a TV but not the 42 plasma or LED. He needed a reliable car but not fancy wheels.
It is very simple- Our ancestors treated Necessities as Luxuries, we are looking at Luxuries as Necessities.
This is making our life miserable...
